Critical Cures Act and BlueButtonPRO Updates
Let’s look into the important service updates to help you prepare better for the upcoming Cures Act deadlines.
“Certify and Provide”
As you all know by now, the Cures Act requires all medical practices, irrespective of their specialty or MIPS eligibility status, to comply with Information Blocking requirements by December 31, 2022. As part of this requirement, the FHIR® API should be live by December 31st. A public URL for each of those practices needs to be published as outlined in the rule – “Certified API Developers must make available appropriately scoped service base URLs that patients can use to access their EHI for Health IT Modules certified to § 170.315(g)(10)”. We will publish our first version of the FHIR® APIs directory next month. If you have any practices that would like to go live before the end of the year, please get in touch with us so we can provision and include them in our initial release.
CHPL Update
We will maintain the required list of service base URLs and have them on our CHPL listing and display them publicly, as required. Additionally, we will incorporate all updates into the Real World Test plans and subsequent reports needed for certification.
Simple Onboarding of Practices
We will do weekly updates to the FHIR directory after the initial update. We have made several updates to simplify the process of provisioning new FHIR® APIs to manage onboarding your practices towards the end of the year. We are also looking to provide you with the ability to manage the directory listings for your providers as requested by many of you.
Onboarding Training Sessions
We are currently scheduling training sessions for our EHR partners. We are also scheduling joint training sessions with our EHR partners to address their providers. If you would like us to co-present with you, please get in touch with us.
Integrate at Your Pace and Safeguard Certification
We understand some of you are still short on resources to complete full integration with your EHR. A few weeks ago, we announced a new solution called MeldRx™. MeldRx™ was created in response to requests from many of you to provide an out-of-the-box solution for some of the patient registration workflows. We have gone above and beyond to include several new features for providers. MeldRx™ is included for all BlueButtonPRO Enterprise subscribers at no additional cost. This will allow you to complete your integration at the pace you are comfortable with without risking your certification.
New "Import" and "Invite" APIs
We have introduced some new import APIs and updates to the invite APIs to simplify the workflow. All the current APIs will continue to work, but we are strongly recommending that everyone moves to the new version of the APIs. Other than the URL changes, very minimal updates are required on your side for this migration. Please get in touch with us to get your updated sandbox credentials if you haven’t already done so.
Participate in Partner Showcase
We are launching a PR campaign to showcase our partners. Contact us if you are interested in being a part of the program.
